Florida Eye's Fabulous Ophthalmic Techs

Every semester Florida Eye welcomes an ophthalmic tech student from Palm Beach State’s Ophthalmic Tech program.This semester we consider ourselves very lucky to have tech student Brianna Valentine in the house!

A Quick Q&A with Brianna

Florida Eye: How did you hear of the program at Palm Beach State College?

Brianna:“After accompanying my grandmother to her eye appointment I became instantly interested. I began researching Ophthalmic careers. I came upon the Palm Beach State College’s two year Ophthalmic Medical Technologist program and knew it was the career that I wanted to pursue.”

Florida Eye: Why did you choose this career?

Brianna: “I choose to be in the Ophthalmic field because I love interacting and helping people. This field contains many rewarding aspects. Vision is a critical aspect to many patients lives and being able to help preserve and educate patients so they obtain the best visual heath possible is very rewarding.”

Florida Eye: How long have you been at FL Eye and how do you like it so far?

Briana: “I have been at FL Eye for 5 weeks now and absolutely love it so far. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I have learned so much since I’ve been here and am very grateful for this experience.”

Florida Eye: What do you hope to learn?

Brianna: “I hope to learn how to efficiently make my patients feel comfortable & educate them on precautions, conditions and procedures that may be applicable.”

And what do we think of Brianna?

“Brianna is enthusiastic, hard-working and a pleasure to have on board,” said Florida Eye’s Dr. Barry Schechter. “We are very happy to have her.”
